On April 4, 2025, the Vietnam Traders Arbitration Centre (VTA) officially announced the appointment of Arbitrator – Lawyer Nguyen Hoang Chuong as Director of Cooperation Development (in charge of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia) for the 2025–2027 term.

VTA COOPERATES WITH THUY LOI UNIVERSITY (TLU)

This cooperation represents a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between VTA and TLU, fostering the development of future legal professionals, and enhancing the overall quality of legal education and practice in Vietnam.

On the morning of June 3, 2024, in Hanoi, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Vietnam Traders Arbitration Centre (VTA) and Thuy Loi University (TLU).

Attending the event from TLU were Prof. Dr. Trịnh Minh Thụ – Rector, Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Trung Việt – Vice Rector, Dr. Tô Mạnh Cường – Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Theory, along with faculty members, representatives of various TLU departments, and law students. Representing VTA were Mr. Phạm Xuân Sang – President of VTA, VTA arbitrators in Hanoi, and members of the VTA Secretariat.

The objective of the cooperation between VTA and TLU is to identify, coordinate, and evaluate opportunities for collaboration in the areas of training, communication, recruitment, and scientific research, aligning with the development strategies of both parties. The cooperation aims to leverage the capabilities and strengths of each party, with collaborative activities designed to enhance the operational effectiveness of VTA and the development of TLU.

The cooperation framework between VTA and TLU includes the following programs:

  • Training: TLU will collaborate with VTA to invite arbitrators, lawyers, and legal experts to participate in training and guiding students in practical legal skills, providing career orientation for students majoring in Law and Economic Law within the Faculty of Law and Political Theory, as well as other interested students at TLU.

  • Scientific Research: (i) Jointly conduct scientific research projects and initiatives related to the legal field; (ii) VTA will support TLU’s staff, faculty, students, and trainees in accessing information and data related to real cases (within the scope permitted by VTA) to serve scientific research in the legal field; (iii) VTA will assign staff to work alongside TLU faculty in guiding students in scientific research and in promoting legal education among TLU students.

  • Legal Practice: Jointly organize mock mediation sessions, simulated arbitration council hearings, and legal practice competitions for students of the Faculty of Law and Political Theory.

This cooperation represents a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between VTA and TLU, fostering the development of future legal professionals, and enhancing the overall quality of legal education and practice in Vietnam.

VTA’s Model Arbitration Clause: “Mọi tranh chấp phát sinh từ hoặc liên quan đến hợp đồng này sẽ được giải quyết bằng trọng tài tại Trung tâm Trọng tài Thương nhân Việt Nam (VTA) theo Quy tắc tố tụng trọng tài của Trung tâm này”. “Any dispute arising out of or in relation with this contract shall be resolved by arbitration at the Vietnam Traders Arbitration Centre (VTA) in accordance with its Rules of Arbitration”.

The Vietnam Trade Arbitration Center (VTA) is responsible for organizing and coordinating the resolution of business disputes through institutional arbitration, with jurisdiction over disputes including: (i) disputes arising from commercial activities between parties; (ii) disputes involving at least one party engaged in commercial activities; and (iii) disputes as prescribed by law to be resolved by arbitration.
