VTA Appoints Mr. Nguyen Hoang Chuong as Director of Cooperation Development (in charge of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia) for the 2025–2027 Term

On April 4, 2025, the Vietnam Traders Arbitration Centre (VTA) officially announced the appointment oArbitrator – Lawyer Nguyen Hoang Chuong as Director of Cooperation Development (in charge of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia) for the 2025–2027 term.

This appointment marks an important step in VTA’s strategy to expand regional and international cooperation, particularly in the Indochina region. In this new role, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Chuong will be responsible for strengthening strategic ties between VTA and institutions, businesses, arbitration centres, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) organizations in Laos and Cambodia. His mission is to promote arbitration culture and enhance VTA’s professional presence across these jurisdictions.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Chuong currently serves as an Arbitrator listed by VTA and is the Managing Partner of Nam Minh Ignis Law Firm (NMI) – a specialized legal practice in dispute resolution, business law, and capital markets.

With nearly 15 years of legal experience, Mr. Chuong has held senior executive roles at major corporations such as Truong Son Construction Group (under the Ministry of National Defense), Novaland, Cornerstone Capital, SNI Holding, and Viet Thai International (VTI). He is recognized not only for his expertise in dispute resolution but also for his strategic thinking and leadership in corporate legal governance and business operations.

In the field of arbitration, Mr. Chuong has developed deep expertise in mediation and resolving disputes in commerce, construction, and real estate. Beyond legal practice, he actively contributes to the legal community as a speaker at professional conferences and author of numerous articles published in specialized journals.

Speaking at the appointment ceremony, Mr. Pham Xuan Sang, President of VTA, shared:

“Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia share deep-rooted ties in history, culture, and economic cooperation. As these countries become increasingly integrated into regional value chains, promoting arbitration collaboration within the Greater Mekong Subregion is one of VTA’s key priorities in the coming period.
We have full confidence that Arbitrator Nguyen Hoang Chuong – with his solid legal background and extensive practical experience in dispute resolution and corporate engagement – will work closely with VTA’s Executive Board to connect effectively with partners in Vietnam, while expanding cooperation with Laos and Cambodia. His contributions will help further develop the arbitration network across the region.”

VTA’s Model Arbitration Clause: “Mọi tranh chấp phát sinh từ hoặc liên quan đến hợp đồng này sẽ được giải quyết bằng trọng tài tại Trung tâm Trọng tài Thương nhân Việt Nam (VTA) theo Quy tắc tố tụng trọng tài của Trung tâm này”. “Any dispute arising out of or in relation with this contract shall be resolved by arbitration at the Vietnam Traders Arbitration Centre (VTA) in accordance with its Rules of Arbitration”.

The Vietnam Trade Arbitration Center (VTA) is responsible for organizing and coordinating the resolution of business disputes through institutional arbitration, with jurisdiction over disputes including: (i) disputes arising from commercial activities between parties; (ii) disputes involving at least one party engaged in commercial activities; and (iii) disputes as prescribed by law to be resolved by arbitration.
