ICA Moot is an annual moot competition hosted by the Legal Research and Advisory Club (LRAC) of the University of Economics and Law (UEL), aiming to foster legal research, advocacy, legal English, and practical dispute resolution skills among law students across Vietnam. The 2025 edition has attracted nearly 200 participants, representing 50 teams from 10 law faculties nationwide—affirming its position as one of the most prestigious arbitration moots in the country.

VTA’s Role as Academic Sponsor

As the Official Academic Sponsor, VTA is responsible for:

  • Drafting the official moot problem;
  • Nominating experts to the Memorials Evaluation Panel;
  • Appointing arbitrators to the Oral Hearings Tribunal.

This collaboration reflects VTA’s commitment to bridging legal education and professional practice, especially in a global commercial environment where dispute dynamics are increasingly complex and technology-driven.

A Moot Problem Rooted in Law, Inspired by Reality

The 2025 Moot Problem—developed by VTA—continues to apply the CISG (United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods) as the main legal instrument. However, it introduces fresh dimensions and practical complexity, including:

  • E-Commerce, technology and AI;
  • Force majeure scenarios such as cybersecurity risk;
  • Changed circumstances in the performance of international contracts.

Through these elements, the Moot Problem aims to:

  • Equip students with a multi-dimensional understanding of modern legal issues;
  • Enhance research, analytical, and advocacy skills;
  • Promote deeper engagement with international commercial arbitration as an effective dispute resolution mechanism.

Investing in the Next Generation of Arbitration Professionals

VTA’s involvement in ICA Moot 2025 highlights its long-term vision of nurturing future legal and arbitration professionals in Vietnam. The Centre not only supports academic platforms but also initiates recognition programs for outstanding young talents.

For the first time, VTA will present the “VTA NextGen Rising Star Award 2025” to the most outstanding participant of this year’s competition. This award recognizes an individual under 35 who has made significant contributions to promoting arbitration culture and building the NextGen VTA community—VTA’s initiative for connecting and developing young arbitration professionals.
